EMPA Academy – Music Department
The EMPA academy was first established in 2008 and has become popular due to its friendly, community atmosphere in which all pupils get to know each other well. It is an exciting and vibrant place with good relationships between tutors and pupils. This allows increased support and guidance and the invaluable passing on of expertise experience within the performing arts industry.
Music lessons are mainly taught on a one to one individual basis, available for both children and adults. The music department follows the RockSchool music syllabus. Our graded examinations are from Debut up to Grade 8, thereby catering for candidates from beginner up to advanced. These are taught by using syllabus books which contain everything you need to take an exam.
Lessons are available in:
- Electric Guitar
- Bass Guitar
- Classical guitar
The EMPA academy offers one to one and group singing lessons where classes are designed to suit everyone, so whether you are a complete
beginner or have had a little experience along the way, singing lessons will help you discover your voice and realise your true potential. Singing lessons for children are designed to teach your child the skills needed to strengthen and control the voice, whilst remaining fun and enjoyable. The voice is still developing as we grow through our teenage years so finding suitable exercises is very important. Lessons are combined with ‘song practice.’ Where pupils sing along to professional backing tracks and can choose any style of music which they prefer. Pupils learn speech level singing techniques, used by more than 120 Grammy winners and developed by Seth Riggs,(legendary vocal coach to the stars), Speech level singing produces an effortless, powerful and expressive voice. Again, pupils are offered optional Rockschool and performance medal test exams.
Rock School and Music Workshops
Spend a day collaborating with professional musicians and other students of the EMPA academy. Whether you want to perform cover songs (hits of other bands) or write your own music these workshops gives you the opportunity to work with studio/session musicians and top of the range sound and recording equipment. All work is showcased in academy annual concerts.
For students we feel examinations offer a great sense of achievement as well as boosting their confidence levels. It also gives parents an indication of their child`s progress and the Academy`s results give proof of the quality level of the teaching. We are an accredited examination centre for Graded qualifications with BTDA, Rockschool, Performance Arts awards and BTEC qualifications. These exam sessions are held at regular intervals every academic year. We also offer all of our students performance medal test awards following live performances. The medal test is a performance based award system, which enables candidates to gain the necessary skills, experience and confidence required for performance. These are available to all abilities, ranging from bronze medal progressing to 3rd cup
